How we verify AI tools
Every entry in the Flocci AI Tools catalog is checked against the vendor's own site. This page explains what we check, where we look and what the labels mean.
Sourcing
Tools enter the catalog from first-party sources only: vendor pricing pages, GitHub repositories (stars and last commit), Hugging Face model pages, iOS and Android app stores, and independent benchmarks such as LMArena, Artificial Analysis and OpenRouter rankings.
AI-tool directories (There's An AI For That, Futurepedia, Toolify, FutureTools), affiliate "best X" listicles, vendor round-up blogs and G2/Capterra badges are all pay-to-play. We never treat them as evidence a tool matters and never use them as a source for pricing claims.
Verification
Every tool is checked against its vendor's own website. Access facts — which platforms it runs on, whether it works in a browser, what sign-up method it uses, and any region restrictions — are taken from the live site where we could confirm them, not copied from a third party. Facts we could not confirm are left out rather than guessed.
The most recent full audit of the entire catalog was completed in October 2026. Between full audits, individual entries are updated when pricing or capability changes are reported or discovered.
Pricing-tier definitions
| Tier | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Free | No paid plan attached at all. |
| Freemium | A usable free tier with paid plans above it. |
| Trial | A time-limited free trial. |
| Paid | No free tier. You must pay before you can use the tool. |
"Limited free" and "best free alternative"
Some free or freemium tools carry a limited free badge. This means the tool is free to start, but there is a stated limit. The limit is always printed on the tool's page.
When a tool's free tier is limited or the tool is paid, the catalog names a best free alternative — a different tool that does the same job and can be used right away, without payment or a card.
Listing policy
- Free-first catalog. Browsing surfaces show free and freemium tools by default. Paid tools appear in search results and on their own pages, always labelled.
- No sponsored placement. There are no ads, no paid listings and no affiliate links anywhere in the catalog.
- No ratings and no reviews. Every entry states its pricing tier and what it does.
- Discontinued tools removed. Tools that are no longer available are removed, and their pages redirect to the free tool that does the same job.
