No. Site states it is not a free generator; only a limited one-time trial before a subscription is required. If you need it free right now, AI Dungeon does the same job for free. Flocci keeps paid tools out of its free catalog: they appear only in search results when you choose to see them, labelled and paired with a free alternative.
NovelAI works in a normal browser tab with no install. It is available on the web.
NovelAI does 3 things the catalog singles out: 4.5m monthly active users, 5m+ creators since 2021 launch per vendor/independent trackers; combines long-form ai story generation with its own anime-style image model in one product; long operating history (since 2021) in the ai-fiction space, unusual for the category.
AI Dungeon is the best free alternative: it does the same job and you can start without paying. Dashtoon Studio also start free. The full list is on the alternatives page.
